PHOTO PROMPT – Copyright -Björn Rudberg
When I was younger, I enjoyed long walks in the forest. When I died, I saw no reason to discontinue that hobby.
Occasionally, hikers sense me and spread rumors of a haunting.
You were the first to talk to me, to tell me it was time to move on. What did you think I was doing? I was there for a walk, so I kept walking.
Afterward, it occurred to me to write this brief note to let you know: I’m fine, really. I like walking in the forest. Hopefully, I will see you again soon, and we can talk.

This is my post for Friday Fictioneers, led by the indomitable Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Every Friday (or, well, when we can) we get together and write 100 word stories in response to a photo prompt. Here’s mine. 🙂
Dear Anne,
Now you have me wondering how the ghost wrote and shared the note. I think I’ll go out for a walk now. 😉 Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks Rochelle. Hope you enjoyed a (non-haunted I’m sure!) walk. 😉
Such a down-to-earth ghost! She wouldn’t be scary at all. Nice idea – I like the way you’ve shown the continuity of her existence, from living child to ghost, but still the same person. Intriguing idea.
Thanks Margaret! I agree, not a scary ghost at all. 🙂
I always love a good ghost story. I like the idea of the spirit continuing what they enjoyed most even after death. And that they found someone worthy of communication.
Thanks! I hadn’t even thought of it from that angle, of the ghost finally finding someone.
