“You can do anything you want, but please don’t do that.”

Lesha stood with her hand on the doorway, her mother’s parting, pleading advice echoing in her ears. The last minute assignment had come without warning. New York City, United States, Earth, May 3rd 2021. A new angel was needed to help with a broken, fallen world.

She was the first in her family of angels to even take the test to be a helper on earth. She did not feel at all up to the challenge. But here she was anyway, hand on the door.

Behind her, the rest of the heavenly host watched – well the handful who had come to watch a new angel prepare to enter the world.

“You can do this,” someone whispered. “We will be with you, always, and you will not be alone.”

Lesha steps through the door, into the city called The Big Apple.

This is the first in a four-part series of flash stories for the letters A-D of the April 2021 A-Z challenge. I’ll be following what a new angel might experience on finding herself in the Big Apple in the year 2021. I thought it would be a good start to this year’s challenge. Lesha will show up for a couple letters in the middle of and at the end of the month too.

I have been reading some of your preceding posts and I am certain that Lesha will find much to do and will have many questions as much as she may feel she has to provide answers! I look forward to this, Anne.
Thank you for finding my ‘roaming soul’… I think, judging from those previous posts, that you will find much to ponder there and to add to your own search for meaning. YAM xx

  2. thanks so much for visiting my blog (ladyinreadwrites)
I know I will be looking forward to what is in store for Lesha;; we do need more angels after all

  3. I came over after you posted on my blog. Very interesting! I will be following the story. We sure can use all the helper angels we can get here on earth.
