FF: Almost Perfect Hiding Spot

PHOTO PROMPT © Dale Rogerson

“How did you find me?”

“Gee, I wonder.”

“Huge pile of logs. Lava moat. Unicorn petting zoo. How did you find me in the middle of all that?”

You get that look on your face, the one I know so well. “Want to do something?”

“No. I’m trying to hide.”

“There’s a unicorn petting zoo out there. You can pet actual unicorns.”

Wow, that does sound like fun.

“Fine, just this once.”

I go to grab my jacket, and even though I can’t see it, I feel you rolling your eyes at me.

This week’s Friday Fictioneer’s prompt from Rochelle and Dale made me think of my anti-social tendencies and how silly I probably look sometimes. My first thought seeing that picture was – I see what you are trying to do there, but I can tell there is a window behind all those logs! Nice try to “stay hidden.”

Haven’t we all been there at some point or other in our lives, though? Maybe it’s just me….

  1. I interepreted the clearing of the logs around the window as a desire to be able to see out. But I can see it could just as easily be a failed attempt to hide. Fascinating how we all structure things so differently

  2. I love your story. The recluse, and the smirking “friend” who lures him/her out with promises of unicorns. Perhaps recluses tend to become just a bit naive with too much time alone 🙂
