I was going write a post on Spiritual Warfare, but then something truly sad happened this past week. For anyone reading this who doesn’t already know: Supreme Court Justice and all-around incredible woman Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away.
In honor of her, I remember.
Women are people too. And no human person exists purely for the sake of another. We each have value on our own. If we fail to see that, it almost doesn’t matter what else we get right.
Now, I am heartbroken. I am worried about the United States, the country that I love, with all of its hypocrisy and broken promises and shortcut solutions to shortcut solutions to shortcut solutions. We have a religious system that continues to hold great political power while continuing to believe if we do X then God will bless us with Y, as if divinity were some zero-sum game.
The Bible says that our sins are as far from us as the east is from the west. I keep wondering when we will realize that the earth is a globe. The Bible says that God’s mercy and God’s ways are as far from us as heaven. I wonder when we will realize that the earth is in “the heavens,” part of a vast universe.
The kingdom of God is among us. It has been for a long time. Forever, really.

We have known this for years, but we keep reading those verses as if we didn’t, as if some God figure out there were writing laws we are bound to follow. At the same time, we resist good souls trying to help us write better laws with vision and heart.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, pray for us. Do us some good while you’re up there, because God knows – we need you now more than ever.

Anne, Post on SEPA WOC, please! Regina
