FF: No Means No

In a second-floor studio apartment, a lonely guy pounds a stucco wall with his fist.

“No means no. It doesn’t mean try harder.”

The judge demanded he read those words aloud, part of his
“out-of-the-box” sentencing. Now, he glares at an  empty parking lot. One day, she’ll realize that he alone loves and understands her. Why
can’t she see that now?

In a tiny cabin in Maryland, Megan double-checks the locks. It’s a habit she can’t seem to shake, even while on vacation. She takes a deep breath and goes to join her family for dinner.

This is my entry for Friday Fictioneers, inspired as ever by the ever-creative Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.

  1. Nice double character study. I hope the out-of-the-box sentence included GPS tether for at least a few years. I hate to see until he finds another target. Funk dat, LIFETIME tether! Intimate partner violence is one of the most common types there are, and too little is done usually until its too late 😦

  2. A story of real life. There is an emotional switch in some people’s mind that cannot appreciate another point of view. Love is a dangerous game for these people and they need professional help to protect society.
