FF: Wait For It

“Waiting for your yes is like knowing it’s your birthday. The gifts are wrapped and waiting. That magical moment will come. Our eyes will meet, and we’ll both know. Wrapping paper will fall to the floor, and we’ll know.”

I fold up the old love letter, written back before emails and texts were all the rage.

“What are you doing? We’re going to be late,” you call from the other room.

“Remembering why I love you so much – for your patience.”

“That’s not funny.”

“It kind of is.” I put the letter down. “I’ll tell you about it later.”

This is my entry for Friday Fictioneers, led by the ever-patient Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Every week, we post 100-word stories, along with adorbs frog pictures put there to tempt the wary. Click the pic. You know you want to….

  1. Dear Anne,

It’s good to revisit those days of being young and in love. I can see why she’d want to be reminded of why she fell in love with him in the first place. I know the feeling all too well. 😉

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  2. A sweet glimpse into an old married couple’s life. It is nice they have their letters. Maybe thirty years from now, we will be looking at facebook memories… not quite the same.
